What’s Happening at St. Mary of the Hills…

St. John’s Soup Kitchen

Members of SMOTH are at St. John’s on Monday mornings from 7:00-11:00 a.m. and that most volunteers are only scheduled to go once a month based on their ability.  (I found that a few folks thought the commitment was for every Monday.)  I you have question about volunteering, please call Kathy Drew at (508)835-3752 or @ drewk@earthlink.net.

Parish Help Center Open

The Charity and Justice Committee has been busy for the last several months meeting with educators and Social Service providers. The group has determined that a resource center can help meet family and individual needs. The needs may include warm winter clothes, school supplies for students, toiletries, or where to turn for help with health, employment or other needs.

Volunteers staff an office in the parish hall and provide assistance to parish members and non-members in Boylston and Shrewsbury. We learned of a grant opportunity and an application has been made to help with start-up and ongoing costs.

Parish Members with knowledge of a family or individual in need are invited to let the parish know and those interested in helping are most welcome.

You can contact us by phone 508-869-6771; by email at helpcenter@smothills.org or visiting our Help Center Office – Room B on Wednesdays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

May the Lord bless this effort to respond to the demands of the Gospel!
